I’ve been on a little bit of a hiatus since last week because I got married over the weekend. At some point, I will post something about time. Time! But in the mean TIME, I am sharing this incredibly cool link with you.
Celebrity Death Match: Astronomy v. Physics
Today … not so fantastic attempt at a discussion by the QG group. … thought experiments on simultaneity in different interpretations of DSR … sorting out exam committee … wandering back to the cosmological constant And wondering: why don’t people in theoretical physics stop fucking around and seriously go after the cosmological constant? It is *the* problem of the...
Bonjour Hello
This is what all of the sales people say to customers in Montreal. It is so cool. I think coming up here was a good idea for thinking. I took the train up from Toronto yesterday, which I think was totally appropriate for a weekend of deep thinking about Doubly Special Relativity. So many of Einstein’s thought experiments for Special Relativity revolved around things happening on trains, and...
if you know a mother in science
be nice to her. she’s probably really tired, and she’s probably working two jobs: scientist and housewife. today i read a paper by kimberly, magueijo, and madeiros, which i recommend. it’s kind of deceptively simple to read — easy to follow, difficult to swallow. very deep. hi nick. i also went back and looked over this paper by sabine hossenfelder again. DSR is sort of...
doubly special relativity ate my brain
spent all day today worrying about DSR. how is it classical if we need “quantum interpretation” in order to understand it in position space? does it matter if the lorentz transformations are non-linear?
